With hundreds of the leading brands around the world, along with tens of thousands of service providers all relying on ServiceChannel, we’re well known in the field of facilities management technology. Companies every day use our service automation software to ensure that their repair & maintenance operations run smoothly.
But you might be thinking, how do we provide, support and maintain technology for facilities teams, contractors and suppliers with their work orders, service requests, invoices/payments, data analytics, etc., all on a 24x7x365 basis? Great question!
At our core, we are a data-driven software technology company built on the latest technical infrastructure. It’s how we’re able to ensure our solution is always available for our customers, so they can deliver a quality environment and experience to theirs.
Two Key Technologies Behind The ServiceChannel Platform
Two components of our underlying infrastructure are powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Puppet. ServiceChannel applications and data are hosted in AWS - a highly reliable, scalable platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in almost 200 countries. Puppet is a software configuration management tool that automatically delivers, operates and secures our infrastructure.
We started to use Puppet because our platform was becoming increasingly complex and growing much larger, making it more and more difficult to manage. Puppet helps us manage the configuration of our instances, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, etc. inside of AWS and the configuration of our servers (OS, application installs, application configurations, connections to other servers, etc.)
Using both AWS and Puppet has been a game changer, allowing us to
- Launch new servers in a matter of minutes
- Speed up deployment time of new servers from 1 to 2 weeks to 1 to 2 days
- Release changes one or two times per day instead of once per week
- Significantly improve the quality of our releases
- and more
How Does This All Work?
If you’re interested in a deep dive of how we’ve put our infrastructure in place, join us on Thursday, July 20th for a webinar where we’ve partnered with both Amazon Web Services and Puppet.
